Ferdinand Barbedienne (France, 1810-1892). Oval form coupe with tapered sides, the handles in the form of birds on foliate sprigs, all supported on a figural base the lid, body, and base all with polychrome champlev decoration.
Approximate dimensions: 7 1/4 high x 9 1/4 wide x 5 1/4 inches deep..
Condition: Light rubbing and gilt loss.
Barbediennes displays at the International Exhibition of 1862, also known as the Great London Exposition, won him accolades for the fine champleve enamel decorative objects designed together with Alfred-Paul-Louis Serre (France, 1837-1906).
