Large Chinese Blue and White Arabic Inscribed Jar

Sturdily potted with a tapered ovoid body rising to a broad shoulder with a short neck and everted rim, painted with four diamond-shaped panels each enclosing Arabic characters within a rectangular frame decorated with ruyi clouds, all on a lotusscroll ground, between foliate scroll on the neck and lappet band encircle the foot, base with a six-character Cheng-Te mark.
Height: 14 1/4 inches (36 cm).
Provenance:
From the collection of Captain Edward Pearce, Annapolis, Maryland, who served the U.S. Navy stationed in Japan, and England during the 1960s to early 1970s.
